College students deal with a great deal of stress on a daily basis. To cope with academic obligations, extracurricular activities, internships and jobs, many choose to blow off steam with drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, this harmful habit poses a serious risk to their health and well-being. Research shows that more than any other age group, people between the ages of 18 and 25 are uniquely vulnerable to substance use disorder.

A survey of public addiction treatment programs revealed that collegians were most often dependent on three categories of substance: alcohol, prescription drugs, and marijuana. At our Outpatient Recovery Center, we’ve also treated those who have developed addictions to cocaine, methamphetamine, illicit opioids and party drugs like ecstasy.
